Second Time DUI (within 5 years)

If this is your second DUI within a 5 year period of time, you are facing amplified penalties in Clearwater, Pinellas County that will not only cost you money and time, but will change your life. As a result of this second DUI, you must serve a minimum of 10 days in jail; however, the court can keep you imprisoned for up to 9 months. You will have to pay an increased fine between $1000.00 and $2000.00 and your car will be impounded and immobilized for 30 days. A second DUI conviction in Clearwater will result in revocation of your driver's license for the next 5 years, making it difficult to complete the day-to-day tasks that have become so common. Although you can apply for a hardship reinstatement of your license after 1 year, you will have to incur the associated costs and inconveniences. As a result of a second DUI, you must abide by the mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device for up to 1 year and complete DUI School Level II sponsored by the Suncoast Safety Council. You will be placed on probation for up to 12 months through the Salvation Army Correctional Services. You may be required to do 50 hours of community service and attend the Victim Impact Panel sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
